We are ordinary young people who are scared about what the climate crisis means for the people and places we love. We gather in classrooms, living rooms, and worship halls — and now, virtually — across the DMV. Everyone has a role to play.
Sunrise DC dreams of and organizes for a future where all people are truly safe and free. We are a joyful collective of young people, unified by our struggle against the climate crisis and committed to the long-term work to abolish systems of oppression. Together with local partners, we take direct action, build up our community, grow our political power, and practice mutual aid.
We push for a Green New Deal, a plan that will tackle the climate crisis, provide a jobs guarantee, ensure healthcare for all people, and fight the systemic racism that is so entrenched in our society — taking the first steps towards our collective vision of a just and equitable future for all people.
We're building a coalition of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people.
